Where from the week end the can N17 of Luca and Diego seemed to be able to fight like in Portimao for the victory being always in the top 5 in free practice.
Unfotrunatley Luca found a Audi of La Marca in his fast lap and lost more than 1 sec. in the third intermediate, and could not sign the time he would have deserved, he tried to improve at the end of the session but he braked too late at the long harpin ending large in the track margin loosing his chances on a top qualifying.
Diego, who drove for more time had more luck in qualifying and managed to do 4 fast laps in a row that allowed him to start 3rd in Sunday race.
Saturday start was given under the Wet Race signal but all drivers started with Slicks as track seemed dry and there where only clouds.
After a good start Luca was squeezed by two cars and could not do the best of his effort and had to settle in 11th postion ( gained 2 positions tough) for the first laps. The car felt great and Luca was ready to climb his position in the Grid.
The weather had a different opinion on that and at turn 9 ( a flat out turn to be done in 5th gear at about 200Kmh) is happend to be raining, Accary that was leading the race at that time arrived at full speed andlost the car in the rear and crashed in the barriers.
The rest of the group arrived and it was an Inferno with cars spinning and crashing to avoid each other, there was nothing the drivers could do. Once u went on the wet curb and you lifted your foot form the gas, you where thrown in a furios spin at full speed.
This happend to, Accary in the Aston, Quailfe in the Ferrari, Pirri and Peyrolles in the n17 and 5 Corvettes, Mies in the Audi and Albert in the Lambo.
The worst was the accident of Mies that spun many times leaving the youn driver unconscious for several minutes in the car, he was than to recover in the next day.
Luca's impact was so hard that he broke the wheel base and remained with the steering wheel in his hands, he hit is leg and ligaments and has now more than a month to go to recovery.
Really a spectacular stunt that made the race directlor suspend the race and cancell it awarding half points to the drivers.
In the night Rue, from Callaway drove 900km to bring the spare parts to fix the car and the next day the team after long hard hours of work fixed the car, sadly Ragginger with his Porsche decited to hit Alessi at the last turn before the start braking the right rear suspension of the fast Gubbio driver.
Too bad, this was a week end that could have been the turning point for the championship but happened to be a loss loss.
At the end Luca and DIego still managed to WIN the Corvette drivers Title.
