Luca went to Sepang last week to coach HK resident driver Noel Beker, it was the first time that for him to train a driver in a race event and it was a very testing and rewarding experience.
The idea was to do a couple of laps in the 2 seated San'Agata beast showing Noel the lines and braking points and than have him drive stints of 4-5 laps with Luca in the car trying to point out where and how to improve.
After each session there was data acquisition work with the Engineer from Reiter Paul and the laps of Noel where analyzed making a comparison with Luca's in order to see where and how to progress.
Despite it was Luca's first time on the very demanding and hot track of Sepang and with the Lambo he still managed to show some real speed by lapping 1.2 Seconds faster than anybody else in the Sepang Circuit making Noel proud of his coach and car and giving a benchmark for all the 8 Gallardo drivers in how to improve. I have to say taught that despite the European perception the level of Asian drivers has risen significantly and am sure that in the coming years they will be a treath also to more experienced drivers.
Tomorrow I am flying to Zhuhai working for Ferrari as an instructor and next week there will be the FIA GT3 race in Oschesleen where I won last year with the FORD Gt40 so no need to say that despite the inequality in the BOP I really hope to get a good result there specially since if the Corvette will not be competitive as it was not in the previous 2 legs of the championship It will be the last race for me.
Keep in touch and will post updated after Oschesleben.
