The 2009 started in the lovley Silverstone Circuit, luckily this year the weather was good and sunny allowing the Corvette Italian duo Pirri and Alessi to drive problem free for the week end.
In Qualifying 1 Luca despite his injured arm was in Pole for the first part of session but than a Aston Martin of team Brixia held him down in his good lap that would have allowed him a 3rd place in the grid, that considering his health situation and the no pre season testing would have been a very good result.
In Qualifying 2 Diego Alessi flew in the Silverstone Circuit impressing everyone for his aggressive and effective driving scoring a 3rd place on grid for race 2.
Race 1, Luca started 9th and gained 2 positions to 7th during his stint, when Diego got to the wheel of the corvette he was 5th but a RIDUCULOUSE Balance of performance gave us tires that do not last more than 15 laps therefore the end of the race was really painful as Diego had to drive on dead tires lapping 5 seconds slower than the competition, is unbelievable that so much money is spent to make the races even and than we have to suffer so much disparity. The duo closed the race on a very disappointing 9th place. To be noted that the very high ranked drivers Von Gartzen and Kaufmann did nothing better than 16th and 17th with the sister cars.
Race 2, Diego made a very good start and brought the car in 2nd position at the start and did a very high paced stint chasing hard the Morgan ( another RIDUCULOSE joke made by ppl that should work in order to make the cars even). Unfortunately Diego had made a mistake in grid before the race start in the 1 min time zone by asking to a bystander to touch the rear mirror this granted the duo a DRIVE TROUGH penalty when Luca was comfortably 2nd. Sadly if the team radio would have been working they could have told Luca to stay out as the penalty was under discussion with the race director.
The final result was another and even more disappointing 8th place, to be noted that again the tires in the last laps where completely gone and dangerous.
Now we are heading to Adria, where hopefully some of the masterminds of the FIA will do something to bring some equality in this great championship, to be noted that the weather forecast is for rain and 2.8km track with 40 cars in the rain as night can only be defined as a road to massacre…!
