FERRARI CHALLENGE RACE IN SHANGHAI. HAT TRICK (POLE, WIN AND FASTEST LAP)

Luca was invited by team MC Motors to compete in the we of the 4-6th of August in the second round of the Ferrari Challenge China Race.
This was Lucas finrs contact with the Shaghai International Circuit (now his hometrack!).
To the race also Lucas Ascari former teammates Aron Scott and Stuart Turvey where invited along with local star Matthew Marsh and Chinese Touring Championship front runner LU Gan.

After the Friday session where the teams had the chance to do passengers rides, Luca had the thanks to his team manager Mario Crugnola took some sponsors and ‘brave´ friends for a ride in the Ferrari Challenge Race car.

Saturday it was still Free practice and Sunday there was the qualiyfing session of 30 min and than the race in the afternoon.

Qualiyfing:

Luca, wanted to be first on track and so he did, by entering from the green light as first car on track and after the first lap he passed under the starting line for the first qualyfing lap, he found the car due the new tyres and lil setup changes more instable at the limit and despite a few minor mistakes that kept him away from performing a ‘prefect lap´ he was able in just one lap to score Pole Position and he was than after a second slower lap took in the pits from his team and there he sayed for all the session waiting to see if someone could improve his time.
At the end of the session Aaron Scott followed taking second place at 0.921 with Matthew Marsh 3rd at 1.470 Seconds and Lu Gan taking 4th place at 1.975 seconds.

Race:

Luca starting from Pole Position had a first laps of battle with Matthew that had a great start, and than with Aaron Scott, but after the 4th lap Luca started pulling away making a clear win and setting also the race fastest lap.

This successful week gave Luca a first insight of local Chinese racing and gave him some exposure to the local crowd and media.
